Charles Luxford ACRM

Charles is a conservatoire graduate who managed to juggle teaching singing and performing with family life and a corporate career.

Relatively recently Charles put the business world behind him and refocused solely on music: performing, teaching singing and presentation skills. The latter, or “vocal deportment”, was the result of years spent in sales and marketing and business consultancy.

His repertoire is wide and varied with performance expertise ranging from the classical to the contemporary: lieder, oratorio, opera, Broadway and standards.

The discipline of preparing for recitals on the concert platform taught Charles a lot in terms of vocal technique and application.  This he now puts to good effect teaching one-to-one, both face-to-face and online.

“There’s just one technique to sing, but two ways to perform – classically or the contemporary way.  The contemporary way actually requires a more subtle use of technique”.

Instilling confidence lies at the core of Charles’ teaching.

DS, Bucks

I sought Charles’ assistance to develop my vocal skills. His methods were both effective and fun… as a measurement of Charles’ success, I achieved… (my primary ambition).
